Risk Management Paper
for NUR 492

Example of a Risk Management Paper for NUR 492 at the University of Phoenix.

Falls in nursing homes are an epidemic in America, and a serious risk management issue. Risk management “is a component of quality management, but its purpose is to identify, analyze, and evaluate risks and then to develop a plan for reducing the frequency and severity of accidents and injury” (Sullivan & Decker, 2009, p. 84). The purpose of this paper is to describe why falls are a risk management issue at Southlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, discover implementation of procedural steps when a fall occurs, how the nursing home provides solutions for managing falls, identify three sources for methods other facilities use to address the same problem with falls, and provide a comparison of the methods of other facilities use versus methods at Southlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
