Excerpts aren't necessarily from the first page of these research papers.

Excerpt from this paper: It may be hard to do, but showing compassion, respect, and being nonjudgmental to this mother would be another form of an ethical principle that the nurse must demonstrate. This is especially true if the nurse suspects the mother of the alleged abuse. Nurses need to combine all of these elements in a systematic orderly manner in order to be objective about different situations. Excerpt from this paper: The personal values of this nursing student would forego suspicion of child abuse; especially if the child has bilateral fractures of the femur. Abuse toward others is not tolerated in this author’s personal life. Respect for others is another value of this nursing student, although showing this respect toward others is difficult at times. This is evident when faced with patients and families who continually show a lack respect for themselves and...

Example 3

Page 2 of 5 pages

Excerpt from this paper: Medical professionals are members of a very diverse workforce that are advocates for patients with health care issues. These patients all have different values and morals and health care providers need to be comfortable with making decisions in the best interest of the patient. This case study represents that there is a fine line within the medical profession as to whether the health care provider should contact authorities. There are different scenarios to think about in this case and whether the proper authorities should be notified regarding the injuries of this infant.

This infant may have fallen out of a crib at the day care facility while in their care. The infant could have been hit by someone, or the unthinkable could have happened: the infant may have been abused at home. The medical team cares for patients and are not the authorities that bring criminals to justice. It is the duty of the medical provider to convey adequate information acquired from the family and from the medical examination to the appropriate authorities.
