Building relationships includes the use of empathy, honesty, mutual respect and equality that in turn leads to developing trust. Trust leads to open, frank, and goal oriented communication that is essential to accomplishing goals of treatment. Building trusting relationships between health care professionals is essential to ensure effective interpersonal communication. Without this foundation, professionals may filter information leading to incomplete or inaccurate information and the outcome that was to be accomplished may be missed.

Excerpt from this paper: The third cycle is intervention. With intervention there are at least three points to consider. One, make sure to “prioritize and match the job to the delegate” (Hansten & Jackson p. 6). Ensure that the task in within the caregiver’s scope of practice and that they have the knowledge and skills required to complete the task. Two, is to know how to communicate effectively with the delegate. Using clear and concise communication is important to ensure the task is carried out correctly.
